Ingredients

2 eggs
½ cup nonfat or 1% milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons white sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
6 slices whole wheat bread

6 tajadas de pan integral

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla and applesauce. Mix well.
  2. Soak bread one slice at a time until mixture is slightly absorbed.
  3. Lightly spray or oil a skillet or griddle. Cook over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Serve hot.
  5. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.

Preparación

  1. En un tazón grande, combine los huevos, la leche, la canela, el azúcar, la vainilla y el puré de manzana. Mezcle bien.
  2. Remoje el pan, una rebanada a la vez, hasta que esté ligeramente saturado.
  3. Unte la sartén o parrilla ligeramente con aceite líquido o en espray. Cocine a fuego medio hasta que se dore por ambos lados.
  4. Sirva caliente.
  5. Refrigere lo que sobre dentro de las siguientes 2 horas.

Notes

  • To use sweetened applesauce, remove about 3/4 teaspoon of sugar from the measured amount.
  • Top with applesauce, fresh fruit or yogurt.

  • Para utilizar puré de manzana azucarada, quite aproximadamente 3/4 de cucharadita de azúcar de la cantidad medida.
  • Póngale encima puré de manzana, fruta fresca o yogur.
