½ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
1 pinch cloves (optional)
½ cup margarine or butter
3 cups sliced apples (about 2 apples, 3-inch diameter, peeled)
⅔ cup raisins
¼  cup sugar

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

Comments

I made this recipe today and they did not set up as bars. More like a crumble. I followed recipe to a tee and baked for 40 min. The recipe resembled the Winter Fruit Crisp in crumbliness. Any suggestions?

Regardless, it was a HIT with the kids at the summer club I served it to.

These bars make a tasty treat. We have used pears and plums, too.
